In 2016 Andrew took the brave step of setting up his own organisation in order to fully utilise his passion  for helping others and realise his vision for supporting the Armed Forces community.

Tony Costello

Team Leader

Tony joined the Army as a boy soldier at the age of 16 and went on to complete 24 years of distinguished service  retiring as a Warrant Officer 1st Class Regimental Sergeant Major with the Green Howards and achieving his good conduct and long service medals along with multiple operational tour medals and was invited to serve as a Beefeater at the Tower of London.

Upon retiring Tony took up a role as a training centre manager on a Military Preparation Programme in Salford where he set about imparting his considerable knowledge and experience to young people wishing to join the Armed Forces.

Gareth Edwards

Physical Training Instructor

Gareth is a keen rugby player and all round fitness enthusiast. Gareth served in the Royal Engineers as a bomb disposal and search specialist for 7 years but was unfortunately discharged due to injuries sustained on operations and left to ponder his next move.

Upon leaving the Army Gareth trained as a personal trainer and worked for several large chains as a freelance personal trainer. After 4 years as a personal trainer Gareth moved into  a role in sales management,  however, this did not satisfy his thirst or appetite for his love of the Army, fitness or helping others.

Gareth joined the Military Standard Training team in his "dream job" in September 2017 after successfully navigating the application and selection process and is currently working towards gaining his teaching qualifications and has already had a huge impact on the trainees and certainly leads by example.

Raja Kamran Khan

Physical Training Instructor

'Kamy' fills his spare time honing and perfecting his Brazilian Jujitsu  and Judo skills taking part in regular competitions. He started his career though in the Royal Artillery and served as a Gunner and a Physical Training Instructor. This wasn't enough for Kamy, however, and he put himself forward for the "All Arms2 Commando course and duly earned his coveted Green Beret. Kamy also represented his regiment in cross country, tug of war and orienteering before leaving the Army.

Kamy had many roles in the Fitness and security industries before finding his niche working with young people and mentoring the more troubled young people of his community and took up his current post with Military Standard Training in November 2016 where he has made a significant positive impact on young lives in our community.

Sharon Sargeant

English and math's tutor

Sharon is the only 'Civvi' on the team but she certainly doesn't let that phase her using her many years of teaching, training and assessing to get this group of battle hardened veterans eating out of the palm of her hand.

Sharon is a skilled and innovative tutor who finds ways of engaging all trainees and can often be found lycra clad and taking part in fitness sessions embedding both math's and English in to the grueling physical sessions.

Sharon brings extensive knowledge and expertise of the further education sector to the team having worked at multiple private training providers, charities, colleges and secondary schools for nearly 20 years after successfully heading up the training department of a large construction company for 9 years.
